When God made Betty Fortescue he probably said "What this world needs is a very special soul. One that is gracious, beautiful (of course), COURAGEOUS (all caps!), and who genuinely loves people. One who puts family first, and is loyal beyond measure, to those that she loves, including her charming husband, Rex. One gifted with common sense, so that her inner voice will guide her, to support worthy causes throughout her life."
I'm just guessing it went something like that.. Because we know that Betty was all of these things. We know that there were SO many times, beyond counting, that she would call our office, and speak with either Pauline, or myself, or Cathrine, and inspire us all with good ideas, cheerful support, and encouragement. A true mother to us all.
So, thank you Rex, for being who you are, to attract someone like your Betty. Thank you for being a courageous dentist, and helping others in the dental profession, to see the health effects of mercury amalgams. Thank YOU for standing as a team, with your loving wife, beside us, as we hosted information sessions, and networked with others.
Many do not appreciate what it's like to stand against the stream, with a smile on your face, and suddenly, there are more just like you, and the stream takes a new path. That takes courage. And Betty, and Rex, showed us plenty of that, delivered in that charming English way...
Oh no. That's for sure, we will never forget Betty. She may have passed away close to ten years ago, but her presence is with us still. God did a good job when he created Betty, and she will always remain with us in spirit.

And, don't THEY just make the sweetest couple?
